This is a well detailed museum quality reproduction of a green river turtle Trionyx diplaying bite marks from the Eocene Period (49 million years) of Wyoming, USA. The reproduction Turtle measures 255mm x 175mm on a matrix of 318mm x 235mm.

Trionyx is an extremely rare soft-shell turtle. The original of this specimen was found at 7200 feet elevation in the Green River formation, near Kemmerer, Wyoming. A complete articulated specimen such as this one is extremely rare. Trionyx is a soft shelled aquatic turtle which still lives today but dates back to the Jurassic age. Modern trionychid turtles are found today in North America, Africa and Asia. This specimen is a replica of the original specimen and the bite marks are probably from an alligator or crocodile which are clearly shown in the middle of the shell.
