This is a Scraper/Borer from the Middle or End of the Neolithic Dolmen Culture of S-W France, c. 4000BC. The artefact was found in the Département Indre et Loire, at the famous site: Epargne, Grand Pressigny, France. The scraper/blade measures 56mm long x 36mm wide x 15mm thick and is in perfect condition. It is absolutely intact except for minimal traces of lithic damage. Provenance: Collected in the 1930s; Ex Cambridgeshire collector.
The tool has the typical honey coloured patina from Grand Pressigny and hinge patination with mineral deposits present and ground debris in fracture areas. It is a perfect worked tool with all the margins having been continuously and carefully retouched. This nice tool displays very nice retouching and a perfect lateral refining.
