This is a Medieval Lead Trade Weight, c. 1200 A.D.– 1400 A.D. A small Medieval shield shaped lead trade weight displaying a crude lion rampant in relief, pierced at a later date. Provenance: from an old private Carlisle Archaeological Collection, acquired in the 1960s - 1980s. The artefact is in fine condition, weighs 12gms and measures 24mm tall. Collector’s ticket included.
