This is a This is a Wooden Tribal Bambara Mask, Mali, 19th – early 20th century. A wooden tribal rectangular shaped mask with a wide mouth, a broad nose, wearing a helmet with two crescent shaped horns and coated with possibly sacrificial material. Provenance: Ex-Glasgow Ethnographical Collection; 1940s-1950s. The artefact is in fine condition and measures 390mm tall.

Masks of the Kono, which enforces civic morality, are also elongated and encrusted with sacrificial material.
