This is an Indian cast bronze figure of the Hindu god Vishnu, 18th/19th century. The four-armed deity supported on a round base and has a dark patina. Provenance: From a large London collection; formed between 1980-late 1990s. The artefact is in fine condition and measures 100mm tall and weighs 194gms.
Vishnu is one of the principal deities of Hinduism, and the Supreme Being in its Vaishnavism tradition. Vishnu is the "preserver" in the Hindu trinity (Trimurti) that includes Brahma and Shiva.
