This is a Bronze Figure of Ganesh, South India, Tamil Nādu, Chola period, 12th century A.D. A bronze figure of Ganesh Seated in maharajalilasana on a plinth holding a variety of elements, the corpulent body adorned with a sacred thread and the elephant's head surmounted by a crown. Provenance: from a Canadian Collection, originally acquired from dealer in Mahabalipurum, Tamil Nadu, India. The artefact is in fine condition and measures 55mm tall.

Cf. Ganesh is the son of Shiva and Parvati, and is one of the best known and most worshiped deities in the Hindu pantheon.
