This is an Acheulian (Homo erectus) Hand Axe from the Middle or End of the Acheulian (300.000 –200.000 BC). The artefact was found in the Grand Pressigny Area, France. The Axe measures 112mm long x 117mm wide x 50mm thick and is in perfect condition.

Made on a thick non Levallois flake with secondary retouches all along the edges, the tool has a superb thick shiny lower paleo patina. There are no alterations, restorations or modern re-chipping. Provenance: from the Ullrich Collection, Germany.
