This is a Lower Palaeolithic, Middle Acheulian (Homo erectus) brown flint Scraper, c.300,000 to 200,000 B.C. collected in 1922 from St Philip the Apostle Church, Sydenham, London, SE26. There are no alterations, restorations or modern re-chipping but displays a nicely worked edge with prehistoric use. Provenance: Ex Henry Dewey (1876-1965) Collection began in 1912. The tool measures 78mm x 50mm wide x 23mm thick.
