This is a Predynastic red/brown bifacial chert Knife/Blade, c. 6000 B.C. to 4400 B.C. Discovered close to Wadi el-Sheikh, the artefact has no modern or old damage, partially polished and displays a desert patina. Provenance: Friedrich Moog Collection began in 1930s. The point measures 70mm x 42mm wide x 11mm thick and is in perfect condition.
Predynastic era is traditionally equivalent to the final part of the Neolithic period beginning c. 6000 BC, and corresponds to the Naqada III period.
