This is an Acheulian Flint Hand Axe from the Lower Palaeolithic, 600 - 700.000 B.C. A bifacial brown flint Hand Axe worked to a curved working edge. The artefact was discovered at Le Grand Pressigny, in the Southern Touraine region of the Loire Valley, France. Provenance: from an old French Collection. The artefact is in fine condition (chip to the cutting edge) and measures 86mm long x 74mm wide x 27mm thick.
