This is a Mesopotamia Goddess / Fertility Idol, probably from The Levant, Tell Halaf area or similar, c. 6500 - 4500 B.C. A limestone fertility figure, highly abstract depicting a seated woman, arms to the side, with enlarged, voluptuous breasts and thighs as if emphasizing her fruitfulness. Provenance: from an old Glasgow Collection acquired in the 1980s. The artefact is in good condition and measures 173mm tall.
