This is a Viking Agricultural Sickle, c. 866 – 1066 A.D. A forged iron blade with right angle curved blade, a tapered rectangular section tang with curved tip to lock on to a wood or bone handle. Excavated / find spot: close to York. Provenance: Acquired 1990s-early 2000s. East Anglian private collection. The artefact is in good condition, stable and measures 205mm long.
