This is a Thai Stone Buddha Head, c. 18th Century A.D. A Thai stone head with serene expression, downcast introspective eyes and a firm brow wearing a decorated tiara in front of a sectional-shaped ushnisha. His earlobes are stretched long from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings. Provenance: from an old private Cheshire Oriental Collection, acquired in the 1960s – 1970s. The artefact is in fine condition (mounted on a later stand) and measures 165mm tall, 225mm tall including the stand.
