This is an early Moche (Moche I/II), Redware Monkey vessel, c. 200 to 300 A.D. from northern Peru. A stirrup vessel with a spout at rear, the monkey seated with arms across the chest and wearing a pendant. Provenance: From a private London collection formed in the 1970s. The artefact is in good condition (repaired) and measures 190mm tall.
