This is a Pre-Columbian Jalisco Earthenware Vessel, Lake Chapala area of Jalisco, Mexico, c. 100 B.C. - 100 A.D. A small ceramic offering vessel for the agricultural deities with a round body, plain neck and two side handles. Seeds were put in them and then they were thrown into fields to plead for fertility. Provenance: From a private Museum collection of the late Mr Brian William Hooper. The artefact is in fine condition (damage to one handle) and measures 60mm tall.
