This is a Kushite Stone Axe, 1750 – 1450 B.C., Northern Dongola Reach, the region of Nubia, New Kingdom period 1550-1070 B.C. A small pecked and ground axe probably made for symbolic purposes, rather than being used as a tool or weapon. There are no alterations, restorations or modern re-chipping. Provenance: ex- German collection (Hamburg). The artefact is in very fine condition and measures 51mm x 26mm x 13mm.
