This is a Pre-Columbian anthropomorphic statuette, Colima Civilisation, Mexico, 200 to 500 A.D. A "flat" Colima statuette in light brown clay, wearing a tall headdress, ear decoration, arm rings, a decorated costume, with the typical coffee bean shaped eyes and mouth and a crooked nose. These figurines were buried in shaft tombs to accompany the deceased on their journey to the afterlife. Provenance: from an old German collection. The artefact is in fine condition (repaired), displayed on a custom-made stand and measures 185mm tall (205mm including the stand).
