This is a Bone Relief Frieze made in Byzantine Egypt, Coptic, 5th-6th century A.D. A carved rectangular bone plaque with botanical decoration and attachment hole. This panel is either from the edge of a casket or the spine of a book. Provenance: From on old Hampshire Archaeological Collection. The artefact is in very fine condition and measures 77mm x 22mm.
