This is a Byzantine pottery oil lamp, c. 5th - 6th Century AD. A Byzantine pottery oil lamp decorated with a band of short radial spokes around the shoulder, a thin band on the shoulder, a small ring base with a cross as a maker’s mark and a knob handle. Provenance: Private Kent Collection, collected 1960 - 2000. The artefact is in very fine condition, with light earthen deposits and measures 90mm long x 39mm high.
