This is a Byzantine pottery oil lamp, c. 7th - 8th Century AD. A Byzantine pottery oil lamp decorated with a laurel-wreath around the shoulder a cross between the wick and fill-hole, a small ring base and a knob handle. Provenance: Private Kent Collection, collected 1960 - 2000. The artefact is in very fine condition, with light earthen deposits and measures 90mm long x 46mm high.
