This is a Byzantine Syro-Palestinian pottery oil lamp, c. 500–650 A.D. A Byzantine Syro-Palestinian terracotta oil lamp with thumb spur handle, multi-point star shaped pattern surrounding the filler hole, a thin segmented band on the shoulder, cross decoration between the wick and fill-hole and a small ring base with maker’s mark. Provenance: Private Kent Collection, collected 1960 - 2000. The artefact is in very fine condition and measures 112mm long x 51mm high.
