This is an Ancient Greco-Scythian Bronze Dagger "Akinakes”, c. 5th - 4th century B.C. A pointed bevelled blade, round handle, a wide faceted ridge along the centre, pommel design with four raised areas on a square base probably symbolising the claws of animals, and a plain round guard. Provenance: from an old London Archaeological Collection. The artefact is in fine condition and measures 285mm long.
