This is an Ancient Greek Corinthian Ware Terracotta Squat Lekythos, c. 490 B.C. Once used as an oil flask, the round ovoid body of the vessel sits upon a ringed base a tall slender neck flaring slightly into a trumpet mouth and displaying traces of concentric bands of black pigment. Provenance: Receipt from a Greek dealer, purchased in 1971 with an export stamp. The artefact is complete, (some surface wear, a repair to the neck) and in fine condition and measures 144mm tall.
