This is an early Upper Palaeolithic, Neanderthal Hand-Axe, c. 70000-30000 BC from Rouen (Environs), Seine Maritime, Normandy, France. Carefully worked from a grey flint and possibly an un-finished. Provenance: Ex-old French collection. The artefact is in very fine condition and measures 145mm long x 86mm wide x 50mm thick.
