This is a Viking Mordvinian Type Omega Brooch, c.12th century A.D. A Viking cast bronze penannular omega brooch of the style known as Mordvinian with granule detail to both flanges. Provenance: Property of a North West London gallery; formerly in a 1980s collection. Literature: See Sedov, B.B., Finno-Ugri i Balti v Epokhi Srednevekovija, Moscow, 1987, pl. XLIV, item 11. The artefact is in very fine condition and measures 66mm tall.
