This is a pre-Columbian Ceramic Olla from Costa Rica, c.1000- 1200 A.D. Orangeware terracotta bowl with an elegant rounded shape, a flared rim and a single loop handle. The body is rounded, angles sharply at the shoulder and tapers toward the neck, then flares gently to the spout. Provenance: From an old Colchester collection. Although the artefact has some chips to the rim, it is in fine condition and measures 182mm tall x 205mm in diameter.
