This is an attractive Mayan Decorated Pot Leg in the form of a crude head from Copan c. 5th – 9th Century AD. The artefact comes from the Copan Department, Western Honduras and measures 68mm x 46mm x 50mm.

Copan was the capital of a major classic period kingdom from the 5th - 9th century and was known for its elaborate sculptural style. The Copan Ruins are located in the western part of Honduras, about 60 kilometres from the border with Guatemala. Copan was known as Xukpi to the Maya and was the dominant Mayan city in the south of their territory.
