This is a Pre-Columbian Chavin culture Bowl, c. 900 BC to 200 B.C. A round ceramic bowl with flared sides and a flat base decorated with a band of incised characteristic Chavin geometric patterns. From the private collection of a German gentleman; acquired prior to 1982. The bowl has been repaired but not restored with a piece missing to the rim, a small hole on one side, some wear to the paint but otherwise the artefact is in good condition measuring 60mm tall x 175mm diameter.
