Pre-Columbian Nicoya pottery bowl from Costa Rica, Guanacaste Province, c. 800 - 1200 A.D. A round-bottomed red shallow clay bowl, banded rim, three small lug handles around the body, traces of red paint with brown coloured lines around the body. Provenance: from an old Carmarthen Collection acquired prior to 1930. The bowl was split into two pieces and repaired. The bowl is now complete, two chips to the rim and measures 70mm tall x 205mm diameter.
