This is a Mayan Polychrome Bowl from the Copan region of El Salvador, Late Classic period, c. 550 to 850 A.D. A long oval shaped pottery bowl with curved sides, decorated with various black lined crosses and a broad black line white dots. Provenance: From an old Hampshire collection; acquired before 1980. The artefact in fine condition (some surface wear, but still quite vivid) and measures 52mm tall x 258mm long x 152mm wide.
