This is a Mayan Polychrome Bowl from the Copan region of El Salvador, Late Classic period, c. 550 to 850 A.D. A copador pottery bowl with a bulbous lower body rising to vertical sides, decorated with various black lines and white dots. Provenance: From an old Hampshire collection; acquired before 1980. The artefact in fine condition (some surface wear, scratches and pigment loss as shown, but still quite vivid) and measures 96mm tall x 188mm diameter.
