This is a Pre-Columbian Nicoya Polychrome Pottery Jug, Period VI, c. 1000-1500 A.D. A round form with slightly flared rim, areas of red and ochre colour with a black geometric patterns, the applied single handle is oval in profile with a slight upward arch and is attached to the shoulder of the vessel. Provenance: from an old Bath antiquities collection. Although there is some wear and a chip to the rim, the flask is in very fine condition, complete, no repairs and measures 142mm high x 147mm diameter across the handle.
