This is a Poll Groove Axe, Late Archaic 5500 to 2500 B.C., Indiana. A white granite polished axe head broken at the groove but well shaped at the cutting edge. Provenance: from an old Hampshire collection. This part of the artefact is in fine condition and measures 65mm long x 67mm wide x 34mm thick.
