This is a Chinese Neolithic Period two handled pot, Yangshao Culture, 5,000 - 3,000 B.C. A Neolithic pottery vessel with twin loop handles to the shoulder, the outer surface of the body and inner mouth have been decorated with linear patterns using fired-on mineral-based pigments of two different colours. Provenance: Eskenazi Gallery, 10 Clifford Street, London W1S 2LJ. The artefact is in fine condition (minor chips to the rim and some rubbing), and measures 133mm tall x 138mm diameter.
