This is a large bronze figurine of a Buddha from Thailand, early 19th century. A Buddha seated in the lotus position raised on a pedestal base with a finely contoured face, down-turned almond-shaped eyes, arched brows, relatively naturalistic nose, closed mouth with full lips presenting a gentle smile, and characteristically elongated earlobes and crowned by a head of tightly wound curls with a flaming ushnisha emerging from the top of the head. Provenance: from an old Derby Oriental Collection. The artefact is in good condition, weighs over 5kgs and measures 435mm tall.
