This is a Khmer Sandstone Head of a Buddha, c. 12th-13th century, Cambodia. A carved head depicting a Buddha with eyes open, a pensive brow, likely in meditation, wearing a crown with a lotus-shaped bud on top and incised detail into sandstone, elongated ears symbolising wisdom and longevity. From a private Hampshire collection, acquired in the late 1950s. The artefact is in fine condition and has a relatively smooth naturally aged patina consistent with age. Mounted on a custom-made stand and measures 170mm tall (250mm tall including the stand).
