This is a Chinese Hoi An Shipwreck Lidded Jar, c.14th-15th century AD. A creamware lidded vessel with basal ring and decorated with stylised lotus flowers. Provenance: Private collection, Bristol, acquired prior to 2000. Footnotes: Annamese Hoi An pottery was made in what is now Vietnam, in the kilns at Chu Dou, being the largest and most important kilns in the fourteenth to fifteenth century in the kingdom of Annam. The artefact is in fine condition (wear from being submerged) and measures 60mm high x 85mm diameter.
