DESCRIPTION: This is an excellent portrait of a charming little peasant girl sitting on the path with her basket. The artist has captured the child's innocence as she looks through her bright eyes, her fair complexion captured in the light with rosy red cheeks. The watercolour was probably created as a study for the known Artist’s painting “Children Playing on Sand Dunes, Grandcamp”, 1877-1878, in the National Gallery of Ireland.

Provenance: The picture purchased from the Private Owner with no document and is sold ‘as is’.

Until 1872, she was strongly influenced by Manet but later developed her own, more personal style.
