This is a Papua New Guinea Sepik River Mask, early to mid-20th century. An ancestor wall mask from Sepik river village made of paint decorated and carved wood, with an elongated face and a protruding tongue. Provenance: from an old London Collection. The artefact is in fine condition (Hooks at the back of the mask, probably used for hanging are missing) and measures 690mm tall.
