This is an Early Maori Axe Head from North Island. A New Zealand Maori peck and ground diorite stone axe head with a convex edge on one side and a concave edge to the other. Provenance: brought back to Britain by a 19th century missionary; then acquired by an old Hampshire collection. The artefact in very fine condition and measures 120mm long.
