This is a museum quality reproduction of a Scaphognathus crassisrostris from the famed Solendhfen "lithographic" limestone of Bavaria, Germany from the Upper Jurassic (Tithonian) Period. The meaning of the generic name is “Tub Jaw”. It had the same general aspect than Rhamphorhynchus but with a shorter snout with teeth protruding vertically rather than horizontally. Classification Pterosauria Rhamphorhynchidae.
Fossils are just too costly and some are one-of-a-kind that can only be viewed at museums. This fossil reproduction is an exact copy of the actual fossil. The replica Pterosaur measures 240mm x 156mm.
