This is a Lower Palaeolithic, Middle Acheulian (Homo erectus) light brown flint Scraper/Burin, c.700,000 B.C. collected from The River Orwell, nr. Ipswich, Suffolk. There are no alterations, restorations or modern re-chipping but displays a nicely worked edges with prehistoric use. Provenance: ex- Arthur Halcrow Versage Collection, Reigate, Surrey. The tool measures 65mm x 60mm wide x 25mm thick.
